On and on it goes! Well overhead on the sets, maybe double.... offshore breeze. Make no mistake, this is Polzeath at it's very, very best!

So there we were walking across Dartmoor with the kids. Jane says "I told Phil (he's the main youth man at Plymouth) about Billy changing schools. He asked me how that was going to work and I told him that we were going to have to split and take it in turns with the boys. He looked horrified." There was pause to reflect. "Oh no" she continued. "He must have thought that I meant that we were splitting up! I'll have to ring him to put his mind at ease."
Twenty minutes later, having negotiated what we were pretty sure was a Bull, we got back into the car and I promptly reversed into a wall. There could be no complaints - it was a Roman one, it had been there for a while. Anyway, although me and the boys could see the funny side, Janey didn't and all I can tell you is that she hasn't phoned Phil yet! I think after 17 years I'm back on trial!
Surf continues to hang in - 2ft, brisk offshore and the seal is in a very inquisitive mood. I saw one surfer using his arms as flippers to ape the sea creature, but I don't think it was impressed.

Follow Your Dream
It's been all go back here with some pretty big decisions being made. Last Friday, myself and Janey went up to Ivybridge to find our more about the school and more importantly, the Football Academy... thinking that this might be a great place for Billy to go sometime in the future. One week later and Billy is enrolled (starts on Monday) and we've rented a house up there. Findog will be staying at his school for the minute back in Rock, so we'll be doing the back and forth, taking it in turns staying up in Ivybridge and down here at Polzeath. Could be a crazy few months while we work it all out.
If you've got a dream, then give it your best shot, that's our view. The Football Academy allows those with a dream of playing professionally to put the time in during school time - it's quite unique and we're totally stoked that Billy is getting his chance. The fact that he's prepared to leave his mates and go to a new school mid-term, speaks volumes where his head is. Also with sweeping changes being introduced next year re. football academies, now is the right time to get the foot in the door. We're really excited for him. Can't believe it all came together so quickly - but it all just fell into place like it was meant to be.
Pumping
Big Sam makes the most of a three week non stop swell pattern ... it just goes on and on. Sean who owns the Vanilla Coffee shop in Polzeath tucks in to a sweet one - both photos taken at a local secret spot. I say secret... it's a secret one that everyone knows about just a short walk from Polzy. Happy days.

Big!
Big tides and big surf were promised and that's what we got. The double combo - not only was the Cribbar working down at Fistral (well done Liam for the wining the under 12s National title at Towan) but so was a little spot up the coast! Twenty in the line-up, double overhead on the sets, cross offshore breeze. We were on our way back from Footie - where Billy had come up against a team a year older (we didn't know that at the time, but it did explain why their centre forward had the physical presence of Jonah Lomu!) ... "let's just check out this spot!" I said. It doesn't work that often, but it was firing and it was good to chill on the rocks watching the likes of Reuben Ash tear it up.

Great Start
Rainbow on the beach at Sunrise - wished I'd had my camera, had to make do with the phone. Not sure where the rainbow came from - no rain?
Much relief about the Plymouth Argyle news - it's been a bit of a worry. There aren't many options down this way. Janey and Fin are joining the party up at Cheltenham later today - Fin has a match there tomorrow, so they're going to go up a day early and join in the celebrations on the terraces. Should be fun.
Surf today - starting small, building to massive tomorrow!
Lost the chickens briefly yesterday. We were out for the day and came back late. Went to lock them up and they weren't there. Further investigations found them on Fin's bed, along with the cats! That's the last time I leave the side door open!
